The Alan Sherman Memorial
Sgt. Alan Sherman, who lost his life in Iraq, serving his country proudly.
We have just finished the block work. Now we will landscape the area around the outside blocks, out 3 feet and put down river rock, with a low profile border to keep the multi color rocks inside. Then install our malibu lights to show the flowers and bushes. The Memorial plaque for Alan, will be elevated with a spotlight on it. A flood light will be set on the American flag (8'x10') on the 35' flag pole.
This was all done with an auction of Raider items, autographed in person by, Phil Villapiano, Jack Tatum, Ray Guy, Todd Christenson, Otis Sistrunk, and Henry Lawrence, who sang "God Bless America" at half time during the Raider Game last year, at our home of the Booster Club, "Bar A." With everyones' support that day, by donations from others at the sports bar and a large donation by "Bar A" themselves, this was all possible. Thanks to Phil, and his help putting me in touch with the Township of Ocean. They made it possible to have this placed in front of the Ocean Township Library that was being built. It will be ready to open its doors in January 2006. The dedication of the memorial will be in the spring so that all the flowers and shrubs will be in bloom.
JSRBC will keep all notified. Please refer to our site www.jsrbc.com for the story on Sgt. Alan Sherman.
